tek(s)neSonic test #2.
tek(s)neSonic is my sonified remix of Camille Utterback & Romy Achituv's project Text Rain. Text Rain was originally created at ITP in 1999. It wasn't until after I endeavored a little further into tek(s)neSonic did I realize it was the 10th anniversary of Text Rain. All the more fitting.
As in the original project, a person or multiple persons can interact with the text falling on the screen. However, the user is not limited to pre-written text and may enter any text onto the screen by typing on the computer keyboard.. Each letter of the alphabet corresponds to a specific sound sample, resulting in a bank of 26 sound samples. As the user or users interact with the letters, the sound each letter is assigned to is triggered and "played". The interaction works best with more than one user and a song can be created in real time if the users manage a pattern of gestures that can rhythmically catch the falling sonic text as they loop from the top to the bottom of the screen.
